What we do

Women’s Health Expertise and Experience

Clinical trials in women’s health are essential to ensure that medical treatments and interventions are effective and safe for women, addressing their unique physiological and hormonal differences, and improving their overall health.

Women’s Health CRO Expert

Optimapharm has extensive expertise in conducting clinical trials in women’s health. We have successfully completed 30 women’s health studies from phase I-IV to Medical Devices. Our experience covers a wide range of indications, including Fertility, Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), Cervical dysplasia, Cervical ripening & induction of labor, Contraceptive vaginal ring, Endometriosis, Infertility, PCOS, and more.

By successfully completing 14 breast cancer clinical trials (phases II-IV) in the last five years, we contribute to shaping new discoveries that have the potential to lead to treatments and therapies for the 2 million women worldwide affected by breast cancer every year.

Demonstrating our commitment to advancing women’s health, we have conducted 3 clinical trials in ovarian cancer and 6 clinical trials in osteoporosis.

We are currently participating in the SPIOMET4HEALTH project to evaluate the first treatment for adolescent girls and young adult women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This project represents a potential treatment for PCOS that focuses on tackling the syndrome at its root rather than merely relieving its symptoms. The treatment combines three medications that have already proven to be effective in the past in a single tablet.

Optimapharm boasts highly educated, experienced, and proactive clinical research teams, as well as trusted and strong relationships with a global roster of key opinion leaders to support the execution of your study.

You can rely on Optimapharm to achieve your recruitment targets and ensure the successful completion of your next women’s health study.

How does an innovative clinical trial revolutionize the treatment of women with PCOS?

PCOS negatively affects the health and quality of life of approximately 110 million women who suffer from this syndrome, as well as their offspring. PCOS has an impact on emotional, physical, social functioning and behaviour, and family-related activities.

Optimapharm is proud to participate in the SPIOMET4Health project, a clinical trial specifically designed to reshape PCOS treatment. This project focuses on tackling the syndrome at its root rather than merely relieving its symptoms.

This treatment combines three medications that have already proven to be effective in the past in a single tablet. Combining SPI (spironolactone)-PIO (pioglitazone)-MET (metformin), SPIOMET, administered daily, together with lifestyle measures, could normalize ovulation and hormones and thus revert the alterations associated with PCOS.

In a scientific paper co-authored by Juan Vicente Torres, Optimapharm’s Vice President of Biostatistics Services, learn more about how this ongoing phase II clinical trial involving a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is paving the way for progress towards an efficient and secure PCOS treatment.

SPIOMET4HEALTH project is of great significance for women because if the medication works, it could prevent the development of some co-morbidities associated with PCOS, such as infertility, diabetes, and low self-esteem.
